Höhenschicht began in Heidelberg, with a simple idea: that a place worth remembering deserves more than a flat print.
THE IDEA
How do you put a place in someone’s hands?
That question is where Höhenschicht started. We wanted a way to show a place that mattered as more than a flat map — as an object with real depth.
Nothing we found came close, so we built the first relief ourselves.
THE WORKSHOP
Made in Heidelberg.
Höhenschicht is developed in Stuttgart and built in our Heidelberg workshop. From the stretch of map you choose we calculate the relief, print it layer by layer and mount it into the frame by hand.
Nothing leaves the workshop before we have checked the surface, the detail and the fit in the frame.
